You asked, We delivered! Welcome to maintenance days without the traffic, well we hope with less traffic! New for 2019 we are offering Monday maintenance starting at 11 am and running to 6pm. Thanks to those who wished they could avoid the traffic on maintenance days, now you can. What’s more we will even provide dinner onboard, if you wish, just in case you feel the need to hang around a little longer. Registration is open to all volunteers who will continue to earn volunteer day credits towards sailing on this iconic yacht.
With her second season with Ocean Sailing Scotland under her keel Taeping will again be undergoing a period of maintenance, reburbishment and upgrades before the 2019 season gets underway.
With the schedule set to expand in 2019 it’s never been a better time to join us.
Over the November to March period we will be undertaking a large number of tasks from major projects such as a complete rewire, fitting an electric windlass and heating to more routine items such as equipment inspections. There may even be some painting and bilge cleaning for those of you who enjoy such things!
The exact tasks to be undertaken each day will depend on the current needs and, as always, the weather.
During the refit volunteers will have access to an onshore office for refreshments and lunch. Volunteers should bring their own lunch. We will provide Tea, Coffee and refreshments during the day and dinner for TAM days. Taeping will be remaining afloat at Kip Marina and volunteers are welcome to stay onboard as overnight accommodation will remain available throughout.
You should wear clothing appropriate for winter in Scotland and that you don’t mind getting dirty. We will provide Personal Protective Equipment where appropriate and safety briefs will be provided onsite.
Book in below. Taeping is located on the main pontoon at the Chartroom car park and each maintenance day will start at 10:30 in the office (in Kip Marina’s main reception), finishing about 18:00 before dinner is served onboard.
