After arriving in Scotland earlier in the year Taeping, the first ever Clipper round the world race yacht is out of the water for some major works. After doing some sterling work in filling in for the season we have a big list of things to do to be ready for some great trips in 2018.
For the winter maintenance season in 2017/2018 we will be hosting volunteer maintenance days every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from the start of November through to the end of March. Registration is open to all volunteers who will continue to earn volunteer day credits towards sailing on this iconic yacht.
With the volunteer programme set to expand in 2018 it’s never been a better time to join us.
Over the November to March period we will be undertaking a large number of tasks from major engineering projects such as an engine refurbishment to more routine items such as equipment inspections. There may even be some painting and bilge cleaning for those of you who enjoy such things!
The exact tasks to be undertaken each day will depend on the current needs and, as always, the weather.
During the refit volunteers will have access to an onshore office for refreshments and lunch. Volunteers should bring their own lunch. We will provide Tea, Coffee and refreshments during the day.
You should wear clothing appropriate for winter in Scotland and that you don’t mind getting dirty. We will provide Personal Protective Equipment where appropriate and safety briefs will be provided onsite.
To book on just select your day or days using the form below. Taeping is located beside the main marina car park and each maintenance day will start at 10:00 (Coffee from 09:30) and finish at 16:00.
