Start the trip off when you join the yacht at Inverkip marina on Sunday the 16th September.  After some final prep, safety and operational briefings we will then set off on Monday 17th September with a focus on two days of training underway.  Our proposed route will take us out of the Clyde, round the Mull of Kintyre and into the North Atlantic.  Expecting to take about 6-8 days the passage can be used as a qualifying passage for your YachtMaster Ocean RYA certification (limited places).   Expecting to be moored in Reykjavik by Tuesday the 25th of September you will need to depart the yacht by noon on the 26th September.  Crew can catch international flights from Reykjavik for onward connections or stay on for the return leg.   Expect to do overnight sailing with a watch system in place as we make our way to Iceland.   Ocean awareness training will be provided prior to departure.   Cost: £695 (Discounted from 945) per person inclusive of all onboard costs, £250 non refundable deposit. Scotland’s Bot Show, Prep and Maintenance Event ID:  Oct1018TC Registered Volunteers are welcome to join the sea staff as we prepare Scotland’s Clipper 60, Taeping for her appearance at Scotland’s Boat Show .  This event will see mainly cleaning, sprucing and possibly positioning of the yacht.  Note there is no planned sailing. We will also be preparing the stand to welcome visitors. If you are able to come along and help just book a place using the form below. Scotland’s Boat Show 2018 Event ID:  Oct1218TC   Come and help us out at Scotland’s Annual boat show in Kip Marina as we welcome guests onboard our yacht and at the onshore stall. Volunteers are invited to help out manning the stall and showing guests around the yacht during the show and in return earn some volunteer reward days to use towards sailing up to the end of 2019.  Shifts will be offered from 08:30 – 15:30 (with a break at 11:30 – 12:30) and 11:30 – 18:30 (with a break at 14:30 – 15:30).  The early shift will be responsible for setup and the late shift for end of day clearing up. Each shift will spend half of their time on the stall and half on the yacht.   On The Stall When manning the stall you will help to engage with the show guests who have an interest in what Scotland’s Clipper 60 does and how they can become involved.  You will also assist in guiding potential volunteers through the registration process, signing people up to the mailing list, taking enquiries and bookings for the 2018 schedule and answering questions about the yacht and her operations.  There will also be information and “freebies” available to hand out to visitors.  We may also be selling various items from the yacht at the show such as clothing and misc chandlery.  At all times there will be a senior member of the team on the stall.   On The Yacht A focal point of the “on the water” section of the show Taeping, the first ever Clipper clipper race yacht, will be open for tours throughout the weekend.  This has in previous years been a very popular activity for the show guests.  You will help guide them safely around the yacht providing some general information on her history and what she does, as well as handing out a small information leaflet to all those who come onboard the yacht.  At all times there will be a senior member of the team on the yacht.   During the 2018 show we will also be opening our main office fr guests to look around and chat with members of the team.  you may also be asked to assist with activity at the office during the event.   If you would like to come along and help out please book your preferred slot or slots below.  Full training and a health and safety briefing will be provided in advance of the event.  We will also re-imburse the costs of car parking on production of a receipt.
