Scottish Islands Peaks Race 2017 Event ID: May1817CC Event Type: Restricted – Registered volunteers only with a minimum of 5 days (including 1 overnight) time on Clyde Challenger. Event Class: Challenge (overnight sailing with a watch system) Event Status: Confirmed Description: The Scottish Islands Peaks Race is a sailing and running race from Oban to Troon over a long weekend.  Volunteers that meet the requirements above are welcome to apply to be crew for this event. As a race this voyage will include overnight sailing on a watch rotation. Crew must join in Oban on Thursday 18th May by 19:30.  The race starts in Oban on Friday19th May and is expected to finish in Troon late on Sunday evening the 21st or early Monday morning of the 22nd. Cost: £90 expenses only, plus you will earn three volunteer credit days NOTE: – The cost of this event includes all food, fuel and berthing charges. – Sailing activity is weather dependent. Scottish Series 2017 Event ID: May2517CC Event Type: Closed, Race Crew Only Event Class: Racing, with time ashore Event Status: Confirmed Skipper: Glenn Porter (Subject to change) Description: In May the scenic west coast village of Tarbert, Loch Fyne will welcome yachts into the harbour for 4 days of competitive racing.  Why not join owner and Skipper Glenn as we participate in the white sail (or cruising) class passage races on the Friday and Sunday.  Final details of the series will be posted here as they are released but we are expecting a passage race on the Friday and Sunday with time to enjoy the onshore activities or view the racing on Saturday. Event organisers The Clyde Cruising Club encourage visitors to enjoy the shore side hospitality as well as the fantastic programme of events for yacht sailors. Clyde Crusing Club commented ‘it is a wonderful sight watching the boats muster in the upper Clyde with crews preparing, sails hoisting and adrenaline pumping as the yachts anticipate the start gun.
